RMK EC Joins the IGEN Green Family as a Sustainability Partner
Inauguration of The Institution of Green Engineers (IGEN) Partner Program
The Institution of Green Engineers (IGEN) is delighted to announce that R.M.K. Engineering College (RMKEC), Chennai, has joined the IGEN Green Family as an IGEN Green Sustainability Academic Partner on 02nd September 2026. The partnership marks an important milestone in strengthening collaboration towards green engineering education, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), sustainability research, innovation and student engagement.
The programme commenced with the Lighting of the Kuthuvilakku and Tamil Thaai Vazhthu, followed by the Welcome Address by Dr. K. A. Mohamed Junaid, Principal, R.M.K. Engineering College.
🌱 RMKEC Commitment to SDGs : The institution’s commitment towards the SDGs was presented by Dr. N. M. Jothi Swaroopan, Lead Coordinator – IGEN SDG Innovation, highlighting the importance of integrating sustainability and SDG-oriented activities into campus initiatives.
A thematic address on the IGEN Green Sustainability Partner Programme was delivered by Dr. L. Ramesh, President, IGEN. This was followed by the formal Inauguration of the IGEN Green Sustainability Academic Partnership and presentation of the IGEN Green Sustainability Academic Partner Certificate to the Dr. K. A. Mohamed Junaid, Principal, R.M.K. Engineering College by the Chief Guest.

Dr. Suresh Seetha Raman, Chairman, IGEN Green Partner Program & Career Guidance Advisor, delivered a special address on IGEN & UN SDG Activities.
🌍 UN SDG Integration & #SDG4RMKEC : A significant highlight of the programme was the UN SDG Integration Inauguration, featuring the presentation of the UN SDG Integration Declaration Certificate to the Dr. K. A. Mohamed Junaid, Principal, R.M.K. Engineering College and the inauguration of the #SDG4RMKEC logo in both offline and digital formats.
🎙️ Guest Address : The Chief Guest, Shri APJMJ Sheik Dawood, Co-Founder of the APJ Abdul Kalam International Foundation and Director of AI and Digital Solutions at Kryptos Info Systems, Chennai, addressed the gathering and shared valuable perspectives with the participants. A special address on “Climate Change & Youth Role” was delivered by Mr. D. Gokul, Project Manager for Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SDSC-SHAR, ISRO) and Director, IGEN, highlighting the important role of young people in responding to global sustainability challenges.
🌱 Launch of My SDG My Responsibility : One of the major highlights of the event was the launch of the “My SDG My Responsibility” Project, followed by the “My SDG My Responsibility – SDG Warriors Pledge.”
The pledge was undertaken by the respective 17 Faculty SDG Warriors, symbolising their commitment towards promoting awareness, responsibility and action across all 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
