Manakula Vinayagar Joins the IGEN Green Family as a Sustainability Partner
The Institution of Green Engineers (IGEN) is delighted to announce that Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College (SMVEC), Puducherry, has joined the IGEN Green Family as an IGEN Green Sustainability Academic Partner on 24th July 2026. The partnership marks an important milestone in strengthening collaboration towards green engineering education, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), sustainability research, innovation and student engagement.
The programme witnessed several significant sustainability-focused activities, including the inauguration of the SDG Booth, followed by an SDG Rally carrying 17 colourful SDG flags after participants took the #mySDGmyResponsibility Pledge. The SDG4SMVEC Wheel Emblem was also inaugurated, symbolizing the institution’s commitment to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals. The IGEN Green Sustainability Academic Partner Certificate and SDG Certificate were formally presented to the college. Patent Awards were presented to the listed faculty and staff members in recognition of their innovation and intellectual contributions, while #igenWalk555Challenge winners were recognized for their active participation and commitment to the IGEN initiative.

The SDG Booth was inaugurated by Shri. Rajarajan Dhanasekaran, Pro Chancellor, Takshashila University and Treasurer, SMVCE, who also initiated the #mySDGmyResponsibility project for students and staff, in the presence of the IGEN President, Vice President and Chairman – Partner Programme. The programme commenced with the Welcome Address by Dr. A. A. Arivalagar, Dean (Academic), followed by the Presidential Address by Dr. S. Jayakumar, Controller of Examinations. The Chief Guest Address was delivered by Dr. P. S. Kumar, Group CEO & Executive Director, Prithivi Grow Care Pvt. Ltd., and Former Senior Vice President, Butterfly. The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. K. Hemalatha.

Through this partnership, IGEN and SMVEC will work together to empower students, engage faculty and promote meaningful sustainability action through SDG-focused projects, green engineering initiatives, research, innovation, awareness programmes and community engagement. The partnership provides a platform for the institution to actively contribute towards creating responsible Green Engineers and future sustainability leaders.
