IGEN Green Changemakers & Community Subcommittee
Officially Established by IEEE Systems Council
A New Milestone in IGEN’s Global Journey for Sustainable Development

The IEEE Systems Council Education Subcommittee, in collaboration with The Institution of Green Engineers (IGEN), has officially established and published the IGEN Green Changemakers & Community Subcommittee. This marks a significant milestone in strengthening the connection between Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), green innovation, environmental education and community action through a globally recognized professional engineering platform. The Subcommittee will provide a dedicated platform to engage students, professionals and communities in meaningful SDG-focused education, green projects and sustainable action.

IGEN expresses its sincere gratitude to Dr. Andy Chen, Chair, IEEE Systems Council, and Dr. Sanjeev Kumar .P , Vice Chair, IEEE Systems Council, for their valuable leadership, encouragement and support in enabling the establishment of the IEEE Systems Council – Education Subcommittee – IGEN.

🌱 From SDG Awareness to Green Action: The Subcommittee will serve as an action-oriented platform to bridge SDG awareness with meaningful community action by advancing impactful green projects, empowering and recognizing Green Changemakers, and promoting SDG-focused education, engagement and action through IGEN’s flagship initiatives — #igenEnergy99Challenge, #igenTalk4Sdg, #igenCYcle4Green, #igenZero2Hero and #igenGreenDay — supported by community projects, educational programmes, workshops, campaigns, competitions and partnerships.

🌍 Building a Global Network of Green Changemakers : As part of its proposed outcomes, the Subcommittee aims to build a strong network of:
1,000+ Youth Green Changemakers
250+ Professional Green Changemakers
25+ SDG & Green Events
10+ Competitions / Challenges
Multiple Community Green Projects

The initiative will also recognize individuals demonstrating meaningful leadership, innovation and commitment to sustainability.
