Ride with Purpose—Join #IGENCycle4Green and be Recognized on UN World Bicycle Day (3 June 2026)
IGEN CYCLE4GREEN 2026 celebrates the United Nations World Bicycle Day, recognising the bicycle’s unique role in sustainable transport, public health, and sustainable development. As part of this celebration, outstanding project winners will be presented with awards and formally recognised on 3 June 2026, in observance of World Bicycle Day.
IGEN CYCLE4GREEN is a flagship SDG project of The Institution of Green Engineers (IGEN) that promotes cycling as a climate action tool to reduce carbon emissions, raise public environmental awareness, and drive community-led green actions. The project integrates sustainable mobility, behaviour change, and SDG advocacy, making cycling a medium for visible, measurable, and replicable environmental impact.
Purpose & Vision : The core mission of IGEN CYCLE4GREEN is to cut CO₂ emissions from transportation, encourage eco-friendly lifestyle choices, and inspire citizens to take daily green actions while cycling. The long-term vision is to build a sustainable, low-carbon society by transforming individuals, institutions, and communities into active green contributors.
SDG Alignment : The project primarily supports SDG 13 (Climate Action) and contributes to SDG 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, 11, 12, and 17 through awareness, community engagement, energy conservation, waste reduction, water conservation, and partnerships.
Who are Eligible to Participate? Participation in the initiative is open to all, including industries, universities, colleges, schools, academic and industry professionals, college and school students, and the general public. This inclusive approach enables individuals and institutions from all sectors to actively contribute to sustainability and climate action.
